Then my live one-to-one classes over Zoom are for you!

Upon booking into Shak Academy, you will receive a complimentary cake sponge recipe & my best-selling buttercream guide. Please prepare your sponges prior to the class and read through the buttercream guide so that you are prepared as we will make this together in our Zoom class – I will coach you through every step.

2 class options:

A. Covering the basics (1-4) – 2 hours – £90

Getting the basics right is more important than you may think. Start as you mean to go on – if everything is done correctly from the beginning, there is less room for error. I truly believe that if you can get yourself to the stage where you have a perfectly straight and neat crumb coat, applying a final coating of buttercream & dressing the cake will be much easier, and the outcome will be much neater & cleaner.

B. Dressed to the nines (1-6) – 3 to 4 hours – £140

After the class, you will be able to confidently stack and fill cakes, crumb coat, achieve a smooth, straight finish and be able to dress your cake to a high standard. You will master working with Swiss Meringue Buttercream!

You will learn how to:

  1. Level cake layers
  2. Stack and fill cakes
  3. Add structural support to tall cakes
  4. Crumb coat
  5. Achieve a smooth, straight finish with sharp edges
  6. Decorate a cake in your chosen style

There are 3 decorating styles you can choose from:

  1. Let them eat cake – my signature vintage style cake
    Focus on piping techniques & recommendations on which piping tips to use
  2. Drip cake
    Learn how to make my signature drip recipe & how to apply it in order to achieve the perfect drip every time! You will then finish the cake with a floral arrangement.
  3. Abstract cake
    Learn how to select colour combinations, how to add metallic splatters on top & finish with a floral arrangement.

Due to the one-to-one nature of this class, it can be tailored and adjusted to suit your individual needs, so it is suitable for bakers of all any level. Please advise below which category you fall into, so that I can tailor the class to suit your needs: beginner, intermediate, advanced.

The Cake Shak site may show the course duration as 60 minutes. This is to set up the fixed time slots on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. The actual duration of the course will be either 2 hours for ‘Covering the basics’ or 3-4 hours for ‘Dressed to the nines’.
